Cahkal Hotel is built on the principle that luxury and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. The hotel is powered by renewable energy – a combination of solar panels and geothermal heating – and designed with respect for the surrounding Arctic environment. Bedding and towels are reused unless requested, which reduces water and energy use. All waste is sorted, recycled or composted, and single-use plastics have been removed. Food and supplies are sourced locally whenever possible to support the community and reduce transport impact. Cahkal is also working towards Green Key certification as part of its long-term sustainability commitment.
