Hotel Riksgränsen stands at the final stop on the Malmbanan railway, right on the border of Sweden and Norway. Snow buries the village from late autumn until midsummer. The mountain Nordalsfjället rises behind the hotel, its flanks carved with freeride lines visible from the lobby windows. When the midnight sun circles above the peaks in June, skiers still ride the lifts. No other resort in Europe operates under 24-hour Arctic daylight.
The resort runs on a seasonal rhythm, closing each summer and reopening for winter. The 2027 season begins on 18 February. Lapland Resorts, a small group that also manages neighbouring Björkliden and high-altitude Låktatjåkko, keeps operations tight and local. Events like BAMM, supported by OMM, draw mountain runners and ski tourers who treat this terrain as a proving ground. Hotel Riksgränsen suits travellers who want raw mountain conditions, not manicured pistes.
