Lakita Lodge
Norrbotten, Swedish Lapland, Sweden
A two-suite wilderness lodge in Swedish Lapland, privately guided by founders whose Siberian huskies have finished the Iditarod and Yukon Quest. Opening December 2026.

Uniqueness
Tracked vehicles cross frozen terrain to reach Lakita Lodge. There is no road in winter. The full-log building sits within 600 hectares of private boreal forest, wetlands and frozen lakes in Norrbotten. A grass roof insulates above. Flax fills the walls. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame snow-laden trees and distant mountains. Two suites. No neighbours. A gathering room with a fireplace anchors the days.
Julie Travadon Coutelier grew up with sled dogs and raced Europe's toughest long-distance circuits. Raphaël Coutelier spent thirteen years in the luxury industry. Together they built Lakita Lodge as a deliberate counterpoint to scale. Every outing is privately guided. The kennel houses Siberian huskies that have finished the Iditarod and Yukon Quest. Michelin-starred chef Benjamin Breton designed the menu. Small-scale by design, vast by nature.
activities at lakita lodge
Every activity at Lakita Lodge is privately guided for your party alone. Dog sledding runs through forest, frozen lakes and open snow behind Iditarod and Yukon Quest finishers. Guests drive their own sled or ride with the guide. Children sit in the guide's sled.
Snowmobile expeditions cross frozen lakes and forest trails, one machine per adult, with moose and reindeer often visible. Snowshoe routes follow the riverbank and cut through boreal forest, reading animal tracks in fresh snow. Ice fishing on frozen lakes ends with a fire, warm drinks and a catch of perch or pike that may appear at dinner. Younger guests get adapted dog sled driving, kid-size snowmobiles and time in the husky yard. Northern lights outings run from late September to early April.

Gastronomy
Michelin-starred chef Benjamin Breton designed the menu. On-site chef Kevin, who trained alongside Breton for five years, cooks it daily. The result is a Nordic-inspired sequence shaped by the wild pantry of Swedish Lapland.
Meals arrive from the kitchen or over an open fire. Perch or pike caught through the ice that morning may appear on the evening's table. Local and regional ingredients drive every course. Set menus keep waste low and focus sharp. The long dining table seats both suites together, or apart. Full board is included, and the philosophy is generous, warm and unhurried.
Wellness
An outdoor wood-fired sauna faces the Lapland forest. Heat, silence and cold air. Step out into snow. The ritual is simple and unmediated.
Inside, a swimming spa combines still water and massage jets beneath wide windows overlooking the surrounding wilderness. A spa lounge with panoramic glass sits nearby for quiet rest. Alva, a holistic therapist and yoga and meditation teacher since 2018, provides personalised massage treatments in a dedicated room. Sessions are booked separately. The wellness space is small by design, private by default.
Sustainability at Lakita Lodge
Julie and Raphaël built sustainability into Lakita Lodge from the first log. The founding conviction is direct: the wilderness is not theirs to own, but to protect. Every decision, from construction materials to guiding protocols, follows that line. Activities are designed to limit wildlife disturbance across the 600-hectare estate. A specialist sustainability consultant advises on operations.
The lodge uses full-log construction with flax insulation and a traditional grass roof, avoiding concrete and plastics. Geothermal systems provide underfloor heating and hot water. Water-saving solutions, waste sorting, refillable dispensers and glass bottles replace single-use items. Set menus reduce food waste. Local producers and Swedish contractors supply the operation. Lakita Lodge is working towards Nature's Best and Green Key certification.
