Three houses stand in a private park at the edge of Lake Annecy, one of the purest lakes in Europe. La Tournette rises behind the bay of Talloires. From the terraces, sky and water merge into a single frame. The Spa Eugenie occupies Villa Santa Maria, a separate building tucked within the grounds. Twenty-eight rooms and eight suites spread across the park, each set back from the shore.
The Bise name has blown over this bay for nearly a century. Francois Bize opened a drinks establishment here in 1903. His son Georges built Le Cottage des Marronniers in the 1930s, just metres from the Auberge du Pere Bise run by cousins. World leaders and members of the League of Nations made it their table. Five generations later, the dynasty continues. Here, the hours no longer have the same value.
